The Blood Sugar Solution: Mark Hyman’s Thoughtful Guidance

I’m proud to announce that my good friend, colleague, and CMBM board member, Dr. Mark Hyman has just released his latest book, The Blood Sugar Solution. This book is a must read continuation of his groundbreaking work with diabesity (the continuum of abnormal biology that ranges from mild insulin resistance to full-blown diabetes). It’s a book I recommend to all of you without reservation. Dr. Hyman has elegantly described the complex and precarious situation that many Americans have found themselves in–struggling with multiple forms of chronic illness with severe physical and psychological ramifications. He uses an intelligent and scientifically-validated approach to lay out a clearly guided roadmap for reversing this course.

Mark Hyman, MD is a highly skilled, integrated Family physician who has worked with me many times through CMBM’s Food As Medicine training. In The Blood Sugar Solution, Mark suggests that the most effective and, indeed, scientific way to address the epidemic of diabesity disorders is not with drugs and surgery but with nutritional therapies and mind-body techniques to rectify the underlying biological imbalances that cause illness.

The Blood Sugar Solution is based on the principles of “functional medicine,” a systems approach to chronic disease and to the physical and emotional problems that beset our population. Mark’s thoughtful guidance allows for anyone to find their path to healing from chronic illness. It’s a book that significantly deepened my own understanding of diabesity and is one that I hope to share with many of my patients and colleagues in the future.

  1. I look so forward to reading this book. After having cancer last year, I became all too familiar with the concept of nutritional therapies and mind-body work. It was a Silver Lining of having the disease which I have carried with me. Look so forward to learning more! Thanks for sharing!
