The Center for Mind-Body Medicine

Amy Shinal, MSW, LCSW, is an Integrative Psychotherapist in private practice, and Clinical Director at The Center for Mind-Body Medicine in Washington, DC.  In her role as Clinical Director, Amy consults on program development and implementation for the Center’s professional training programs and supervises medical and mental health professionals as they integrate mind-body medicine into their personal and professional lives. She is a Senior Faculty member for Center programs including Mind-Body Medicine, CancerGuides® and Global Trauma Relief, and part-time faculty at Saybrook University in the College of Mind-Body Medicine. As the Clinical Supervisor for the Center’s trauma relief work in Israel, Gaza, New Orleans and Haiti, Amy supervises professionals in the US and overseas who are interested in deepening their skills. In her private practice, Amy utilizes EMDR, meditation, guided imagery, movement, writing, drawing, energy work and other experiential modalities to help individuals move past their stuck points to become who they are truly meant to be. Her experience working with trauma and the challenges of life, coupled with her desire to foster self awareness and soul growth, which recognizes and builds on the inherent strengths and gifts of the individual, results in a collaborative and transformational approach to healing.
