Amy Shinal, MSW, LCSW, is an Integrative Psychotherapist and Consultant, currently in private practice in Reston, VA and Clinical Director at The Center for Mind-Body Medicine in Washington, DC. Amy has over 25 years experience providing psychotherapy to individuals, couples and groups, incorporating EMDR, meditation, guided imagery, movement, writing, drawing, EFT, energy work and other experiential modalities to help individuals with healing and post-traumatic growth.
In her role as Clinical Director, Amy helps develop and implement Mind-Body based programs in the US and overseas and then continues working with Faculty and community based leadership development, clinical supervision of CMBM faculty and community based leaders, and sustainability practices in those communities around the world. In her 20 years with CMBM, Amy has worked on the ground with national training programs and Global Trauma Programs in the US and overseas, (Healing the Wounds of War in Israel and Gaza; CancerGuides; after natural disasters in New Orleans, Haiti, Houston, Sonoma; with Native Americans in the Midwest, at hospital systems like Eskenazi Health; with the Healing our Troops program; in Jordan with Syrian Refuges and more).
As the Clinical Director for the Center’s trauma relief work, Amy supervises professionals in the US and overseas who are interested in deepening their skills and healing their communities. Her experience working with trauma and the challenges of life, coupled with her desire to foster self-awareness and soul growth, which recognizes and builds on the inherent strengths and gifts of the individual, results in a collaborative and transformational approach to healing.
