Jennifer K. Pelton is the Director of Development.

Jennifer is a veteran fundraiser and nonprofit executive with nearly 30 years of experience. She has held leadership positions in legal services, social justice organizations, and the arts. Prior to joining CMBM, as the lead fundraiser for both the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press and the Public Justice Center, she oversaw significant financial growth to fuel expansion of important services. Jennifer also served as the Executive Director of the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra and worked with the Baltimore Chesapeake Bay Outward Bound program, the House of Ruth, and Safe Against Violence. She was previously an officer of the AFP-Maryland Chapter Board of Directors. As a consultant and retreat facilitator, Jennifer focuses her practice on supporting small-shop practitioners and nurturing effective boards. Jennifer has published numerous articles in the Grassroots Fundraising Journal and the Management Information Exchange Journal. She is the co-creator, with Linda Beeman (Aurora Consulting), of a toolkit that helps nonprofit organizations build effective development plans.

Jennifer earned her BS from Wells College, and graduated with an MA in Organizational Leadership from Adler University in 2022. Jennifer has held the distinguished international credential of Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) since 2006 and is a graduate of the Association of Fundraising Professionals’ Faculty Training Academy. She lives in Baltimore with her husband Jeff, and grows tomatoes and makes jam. Jennifer is the proud mother of a theater director, a ballet dancer, and a physicist.
