Stephanie Misaki Whiting is a member of the CMBM Faculty. Certified in Mind-Body Medicine, she provides clinical supervision for Certification candidates, as well as for trainees leading groups in CMBM community programs. Stephanie leads Mind-Body Skills Groups while also integrating mind-body medicine into individual counseling. She has facilitated Mind-Body Skills Groups for a wide range of populations including domestic abuse survivors, caregivers, post 9/11 veterans, incarcerated individuals, and people with chronic conditions.
A Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Board Certified National Counselor, Stephanie has over 20 years of clinical experience. As a health promotion instructor for the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and as a Board Member of the National Wellness Institute, she taught mind-body techniques for stress reduction for many years. She brings a whole person, wellness philosophy into her counseling practice. Stephanie is also a registered provider for Give An Hour, a national nonprofit network of volunteer licensed mental health professionals who offer free, confidential counseling for veterans, military personnel, and their families. She has provided mental health support at Wounded Warrior Retreats for combat veterans in Hawaii, teaching them meditation, guided imagery, expressive writing, and movement exercises.
Stephanie earned her MS in Counseling Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has served on the Executive Board of the Hawaii Counselors Association for 12 years. Her interests include competing in power lifting, studying the Hawaiian language, dancing hula, and learning about other cultures through international travels.
