Dena Rain Adler is a member of the CMBM Faculty and Supervision Team. Certified in Mind-Body Medicine, Dena provides supervision to Certification candidates. She also works in community programming in Broward County, Shasta, and Indianapolis, providing support to those who have witnessed traumatic gun violence and natural disasters.

Dena is a Special Education Teacher and Registered Art Therapist. She has over thirty years of experience working in schools, residential treatment settings and in community health programs. She co-founded a restorative counseling private practice, Spiral River, and there weaves expressive therapeutic arts with Mind-Body skills. Her specialty is with children, youth, and families living with loss and trauma. Her professional work includes national and international presentations at Art Therapy and Foster Care conferences. Dena has been published in Art Therapy as Witness: A Sacred Guide and most recently in Integrative Rehabilitation Practice—The Foundations of Whole-Person Care for Health Professionals. Since 2005, Dena has also volunteered with Project Life: War Orphans Rehabilitation Program, and has spent time in Chechnya and Ingushetia to support the development of budding wellness programs.

Dena was born and raised in Canada, and currently lives in Rochester, NY. For her self-care, she loves snowshoeing, painting, and meditating over her gratitude for both the joyous and bittersweet parts of life. Dena’s personal growing intention is to use her voice to be a greater agent of change for social injustices and systemic racism.
