Finding Freedom From the Stress of This Troubled Time: A Conversation with Byron Katie
Byron Katie joins Dr. James S. Gordon to explore “Finding Freedom From the Stress of This Troubled Time.”
In 1986, at the bottom of a ten-year spiral into depression, rage, and self-loathing, Byron Katie woke up one morning to a state, which she describes, as “constant joy”, one that has never left her. She realized that when she believed her thoughts she suffered, but when she questioned them, she didn’t suffer, and that this is true for every human being.
Since then, Katie, as everyone calls her, has offered her simple yet powerful process of inquiry, called The Work, to millions of people all over the world- at free public events, in prisons, hospitals, churches, V. A. treatment centers, corporations, universities, and schools. As she guides people through The Work, they find that their stressful beliefs—about life, other people, or themselves—radically shift. Through this process, which Katie describes in the bestselling Loving What Is, she gives people the tools to set themselves free.
In this webinar, Katie shared with us the process and the path she has used to find freedom from intrusive thoughts, which during the pandemic have been affecting so many of us. She showed us how to use her simple meditative practice to access our inner-wisdom, and let it be our guide as we work to end our suffering.
This webinar is approximately 60 minutes in length and was broadcast live on Friday, January 29th on YouTube and Facebook. In the latter part of the webinar, Dr. Gordon and will be answering questions from the audience.
