On Friday, August 28th, Dr. James Gordon will present our next free self-care webinar, “Back to School: How to Meet the Challenge and Fulfill the Promise”. This special webinar features a discussion with his friend and colleague, Broward County Public Schools Superintendent Robert Runcie.
Superintendent Runcie, one of our nation’s foremost educators, leads the nation’s sixth largest school district -with nearly 270,000 students in 241 schools and technical colleges, and 92 charter schools, and more than 34,000 employees. He has pioneered a holistic model of education, in which an emphasis on academic achievement is balanced and enriched by a deep commitment to social-emotional learning, mindfulness, and The Center for Mind-Body Medicine’s model of self-care and group support.
In the aftermath of the February 14th, 2018 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School (MSD), Superintendent Runcine, invited CMBM to partner with BCPS to bring a Comprehensive Wellness Program to all of Broward County. Since then, CMBM has trained more than 500 teachers, clinicians, parents, community members, and youth peer counsellors in its approach which they have in turn, brought to students, schools, and families throughout the district.
Together, Superintendent Runcie and Dr. Gordon will explore what “back to school” means during this pandemic, the lessons we can learn during this challenging time, and the role our Center for Mind-Body Medicine’s model plays in returning to school.
This webinar is approximately 60 minutes in length, and will be broadcast live at 3PM ET on August 28th. In the latter part of the webinar, they will be answering questions from the viewers. You can submit your questions in advance on the registration form.
