Psychedelics: A Transcendent Path to Trauma Healing

October 2, 2020

We hope you’ll join Dr. Jim Gordon for our next free online webinar on Friday, October 2 with the founder of the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS), Rick Doblin. MAPS and Rick have been prime movers behind the current scientific exploration of the therapeutic and consciousness expanding power of psychedelic (“mind manifesting”) substances. The research that they have underwritten and the movement they are energizing are helping scientists, therapists, policy makers, and indeed all of us to appreciate the significant therapeutic benefits of psychedelics (including MDMA, Psilocybin, and Ayahuasca) and the intimate connection between psychological healing and spiritual realization.

Rick Doblin, Ph.D., received his doctorate in Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, where he wrote his dissertation on the regulation of the medical uses of psychedelics and marijuana. His professional goal is to help develop legal contexts for the beneficial uses of psychedelics and marijuana, primarily as prescription medicines but also for personal growth for otherwise healthy people, and eventually to become a legally licensed psychedelic therapist.

On Friday, at 3PM ET we’ll be talking about Rick’s and MAPS’s mission, the latest research on the effectiveness of psychedelic therapies for trauma healing, and the urgency of enlarging our consciousness at a time when there are so many threats to our individual and collective wellbeing. We will also explore the possibilities for a CMBM/MAPS collaboration to study the trauma-healing benefits of combining CMBM’s groundbreaking model of self-care and group support with psychedelic therapy.

This webinar is approximately 60 minutes in length, and will be simultaneously broadcast at 3PM ET on Friday, October 2 on YouTube and Facebook. In the latter part of the webinar, Rick and I will be answering questions from the audience.
