August Boyd is a member of The Center for Mind-Body Medicine (CMBM) Faculty. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Board Approved Clinical Supervisor and serves as the Executive Director of Imagine Recovery New Orleans. August leads weekly Mind-Body Skills Groups and is certified in Mind-Body Medicine.
August earned her bachelor’s degree in English (Creative Writing) with a minor in Screenwriting for Film and Television from the University of Southern California. Following her undergraduate studies, she relocated to New Orleans to attend Louisiana State University, where she completed her Master of Social Work in 2015.
August has extensive experience working with adults and families impacted by mental health and substance use disorders. The programs she’s developed draw from a diverse range of evidence-based techniques and theoretical frameworks. Throughout her career, August has provided individual, group, and family therapy, as well as psychosocial and diagnostic assessments. She has significant training and practice in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, particularly with individuals affected by mood disorders, suicidal and parasuicidal behaviors, trauma and addiction.
August’s commitment to community and her unwavering positive regard for others serve as the foundation of her clinical approach. Her published works reflect broader interests in gerontology, public policy and social welfare. August remains a dedicated advocate for mental health reform, focused on improving the quality of behavioral health services, strengthening treatment outcomes and increasing accessibility for all.
