Dr. John A. Patterson is a member of the CMBM Faculty. He has worked on initiatives in Israel, Gaza, New Orleans, Sonoma, and other US cities for the past 20 years. He is certified in Mind-Body Medicine.

Dr. Patterson has operated a family medicine practice in Kentucky’s Appalachian foothills for the past 30 years. He currently operates the Mind Body Studio in Lexington, where he offers relief for stress-related chronic conditions and burnout prevention using mind-body techniques. He is also certified in family medicine, preventive medicine, integrative holistic medicine, mindfulness-based stress reduction, yoga therapy, and physician coaching. Dr. Patterson teaches mind-body skills at the UK Health and Wellness Program, Saybrook College of Integrative Medicine and Health Sciences, and CMBM. He previously served as the President of the Kentucky Academy of Family Physicians.

Dr. Patterson earned his BA in Psychology from Vanderbilt University, MSPH from the University of Kentucky, and MD from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine. Outside of his work, Dr. Patterson enjoys raising dogs and cultivating biodiversity in the Red River Gorge.
