Paula Blake is a member of the CMBM Faculty and Supervision Team. After the Marjory Stoneman Douglas School shooting in 2018, she responded to CMBM’s call to “Be the change you want to see in the world.” In 2019, Paula earned her certification in Mind-Body Medicine. She is an active advocate for Mind-Body Skills Groups, mindfulness, and compassionate self-care, and has created capstone projects on nurse facilitators of Mind-Body Skills Groups and mindfulness in the CMBM model.

As a Registered Nurse (RN) in South Florida since 2002, Paula specializes in neonatal nursing and has faithfully practiced as a bedside nurse for most of her career. Currently, she passionately serves as a Lactation Specialist at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. She is an advocate for the inclusion of mind-body skills and compassionate self-care into RN training and education. It is her joy, as a mental fitness coach, to provide resiliency training to healthcare professionals. Paula also extends her passion for caring beyond her nursing profession into the community at large via not-for-profit organizations who utilize the CMBM model, such as, AHAM Education and Dream Catchers for the Soul Foundation.

Paula earned her BS in Nursing from Barry University and MA in Mindfulness Studies from Lesley University. Her graduate studies culminated with a published capstone project, A Qualitative Study on Nurse Facilitators of Mind-Body Skills Groups. Some of her personal interests and self-care practices include prayer, journaling, reading, mindfulness meditation, dancing, painting, gardening, mindful yoga, qi gong, and swimming. When not in nursing scrubs, Paula enjoys dividing her time between her community, family, friends, and her four-legged companion.
