Shahine Tavakoli is a member of the CMBM Faculty. Certified in Mind-Body Medicine, Shahine leads Mind-Body Skills Groups in both Persian and English, and supervises and supports participants in global programming. She first became involved with CMBM after Hurricane Harvey, and was eager to heal the traumatic impact the hurricane had on her community.
Shahine has been a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for over 30 years, and owns her own private practice in Houston. She has extensive clinical training in the Gottman Method. Shahine also teaches Sufi meditation and Movazneh throughout the Houston and Dallas areas, and has been a member of the Sufi Psychology Association since 1990, where she presents in conferences and assists in research on the impact of Sufi Psychology and healing.
Shahine earned her BA in Psychology and Art from Texas Tech University–Lubbock and MA in Clinical Psychology from the University of Houston–Clear Lake. She was born and raised in Ahvaz, Iran.
