Soraya is CMBM’s Executive Assistant. She provides comprehensive administrative support to our founder/CEO which includes supporting his speaking engagements, stakeholder communications, and meetings with partners, donors, faculty and staff, as well as managing his complex calendar and travel.
With nearly 20 years of experience in international development, Soraya’s professional background spans communications, diplomacy, and humanitarian work. She has held communications roles with organizations such as the World Bank, Mekong Institute, and Catholic Relief Services (CRS). In these roles she supported programs serving conflict-affected communities and internally displaced families, as well as contributed to capacity-building initiatives and humanitarian response efforts. Earlier in her career, she served as Executive Assistant to the Ambassadors of Afghanistan and Lesotho in Washington, D.C..
Soraya holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from Silliman University and has lived and worked in the Philippines, Thailand, and the United States—experiences that continue to shape her global perspective and approach to storytelling. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking and baking for family and friends and loves hosting gatherings that introduce people to new cuisines and cultures. During her free time, Soraya volunteers with a nonprofit in Rockville, MD, supporting efforts to provide accessible information that helps immigrant communities better understand their rights.
