Join Our Global Healing Community

November 17, 2017

We face a watershed moment. In the United States and around the world, social, economic and ethnic misunderstandings and divisions are widening. Individuals and populations are facing the mounting challenges of chronic illness, stress and trauma, natural disasters, and violence. Our hope, as well as our planet’s climate, are ever more endangered.

We, the larger community of healers, have an important role to play in shifting these tides.

Over the past month, The Center for Mind-Body Medicine has led community trauma-relief and resiliency-building workshops in response to Hurricane Harvey in Houston, the opioid crisis in Western Maryland, and the violence epidemic in inner-city Chicago. During this same time, we brought our mind-body medicine approach to world-class healthcare institutions Cleveland Clinic and Bronx-Lebanon Hospital.

Listen to Gwen Breem, a CMBM alumni and key figure in creating the Greater Houston Healing Collaborative, which will integrate CMBM’s trauma-relief services across the city in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey

For over 25 years, CMBM’s programs of self-awareness, self-care and group support have helped hundreds of thousands of people living in some of the world’s most troubled places: Gaza and Israel, Kosovo and Haiti, on Native American Reservations and in Syrian refugee communities. Everywhere we work, we hear appreciation for the comprehensive and highly effective way our approach addresses the biology and psychology of stress, and equips people of every ethnicity and faith to find individual and collective hope and healing.

In the coming weeks, we will be sharing stories of how CMBM’s programs are helping to transform schools and hospitals, disaster relief and and humanitarian aid efforts, across the country and around the globe.

Desmond Tutu quote about CMBM work

CMBM has a way to equip people everywhere to address the individual and collective challenges we face. We hope you will join the global healing movement the world needs now and partner with us to develop community-wide programs serving those in the greatest need.
